The Guest Bedroom:
Inside Candy and Eric Jeffrey’s mansion, there lies a scarcely touched room. This was the room that they were to use for all of their guests
But not anymore.
Inside of the cream colored walls, accented with burgundy floral designs, there were:
- a white-iron Victorian queen bed from Eric’s grandmother, with a headboard shaped for a king, filled with a Tempur-pedic matress and adorned with a hand-sewn quilt set from Candy’s great grandmother
- a vintage white 4-drawer wooden dresser with golden knobs in the middle and wear and tear around the edges
- a grey loveseat with Cherry wood trim and a regal shape that had the perfect crowning in the middle of the outer arms
- a set of pearl end-tables with one single leg that had a four-claw base
- a set of burgundy velvet curtains that had the capacity to shield the room from sun or enhance the warmth with its texture
- a rod-iron dark grey floor lamp that stood erect and curved it’s light onto the loveseat
- an oversized white oak armoire with gold trim kept watch over the bed
- a rectangular rug with an intricate geometrical pattern that occupied the space just in front of the loveseat
And then there were photos:
- photos of two couples from the mid 1800s standing beside each other with a subtle look and unarched desires
- a photo of a man and woman in their late 60’s with dark brown hair, home team shirts, matching caps, and a smile of everlasting adornment
- another photo of a couple around the same age, but with a man with fiery red hair in a black short sleeved button up shirt that had the top button open and adorned with palm trees and a woman with short strawberry hair that fell just above her shoulders wearing a black and floral sundress and a pair of silver hoops with a sunset behind them that the Colorado house could only dream of seeing
- and then there was a photo of a much younger family; a dark haired man with glasses and crisp white shirt and a woman with soft blond curls in a white sundress, standing in front of a house that reseamebled a smaller version of their current estate
- then there was a picture that was slightly tilted to its side; so much so that the hazel eyed toddler that looked at you in the picture seemed to be causing the off-balance
And then, there was the mantle:
- a white cast-iron table with gold trimmings that stood about chest level
- on it were a couple of teddy bears, a couple of pink ribbons, a purple flower pot filled with artificial lillies that could use a good dusting, and a small picture frame
- inside the frame, resided a picture of the hazel-eyed toddler beaming her angelic smile and halo curls
- spelled out with script craft letters near the frame was the name “Lilly”
